Protest march against hospital cuts to take place today
Thousands of people are due to take to the streets today calling for a stop to cuts to a hospital.
Campaigners will be marching against the plans to sell off part of Whittington Hospital from 11:30am.
In the Whittington Hospital NHS Trust plans for the site, flats for NHS nurses and social workers would be closed down as six NHS-owned blocks in the site are sold off.
The trust also announced it would be investing £10million to help secure the future of the hospital, which will go towards the upgrading of maternity wards and improve facilities for premature babies.
The hospital, used by people in Haringey, is planning to become a foundation trust, but health bosses have put the application on hold to strengthen the bid.
Marchers will be meeting at Highbury and Islington Station before making their way up to the hospital in Magdala Avenue.
