Noisy nightclub The Alabar Lounge in Tottenham closes
2:47pm Friday 22nd March 2013 in News By Bruce Thain
A night club has closed after the owner was told to keep the noise down four times by the council.
The Alabar Lounge, in High Road, Tottenham, was closed after it failed to comply with noise abatement notices made by Haringey Borough Council.
The council served the club’s owner with the notices on four separate occasions from December 2011.
Cabinet member for the environment councillor Nilgun Canver said: “Noise during the night is a source of much concern for our residents and we expect businesses to comply when told to keep the noise down.
“Fortunately, most of them do so. In this case the owner felt they were above the law and they are now paying the penalty."
The owner has said the club may reopen in the future and the council has said officers will monitor complaints regarding the club.
