Haringey Borough Council flew the rainbow flag to show its support against homophobia yesterday.
The flag which symbolises gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender pride has been placed outside the Haringey Civic Centre to mark International Day Against Homophobia on May 17.
It will remain there all weekend.
Councillor Richard Watson, cabinet member for communities, said: “We’ve made great strides in the UK towards equality, but sometimes it is forgotten that there are many countries where it is illegal to be gay.
“It’s important that we show solidarity with those suffering across the world because of their sexuality, and continue to improve gay rights at home.”
