Zoom Rockman, creator of the Zoom comic, featured in The Beano’s 75th anniversary issue
A 12-year-old who earned praise from around the world for his comics will feature in The Beano’s 75th anniversary issue.
Zoom Rockman, of Tottenham Lane, Hornsey, who created The Zoom comic when he was nine years old, gave an interview in today’s edition of the children’s comic.
The issue will also feature an exclusive ‘Skanky Pigeon’ mini strip, which he created, and it is set to be the first of a regular monthly strip.
The 12-year-old said: "The Beano inspired me to start making comics when I was eight so it’s really cool to be working for them now."
Mike Stirling, editor-in-chief of The Beano, praised Mr Rockman’s writing talent.
He said: "As well as his art skills, Zoom's a fantastic writing talent.
“He's full of great ideas and has a keen eye for the absurdities of grown-up life and pop culture.
“Appearing in The Beano will allow a mass audience to enjoy Zoom's creativity and, hopefully, also inspire our readers to follow in his footsteps."
