Lance corporal Samantha Londono wins award at Army Cadets Force Training Camp
A 16-year-old army cadet from Tottenham received an award for her hard work at an annual training camp.
Lance Corporal Samantha Londono was given the prize for successfully completing the Senior Cadet Instructors Course at the Army Cadets Force Training Camp.
The course, for senior cadets, means that she can train and instruct others.
Samantha, who attends Our Lady’s Convent High School, in Stanford Hill, has been a cadet for three and a half years.
She said: “What I most enjoyed on the course was meeting new people and building up my confidence.
“I’ve learned too about conducting a proper lesson for junior cadets.
“It’s very challenging but I’d recommend it – once you have completed it you feel you really feel you have achieved something.”
The 16-year-old plans to do Business Management at University and use that degree for her career.
Cadets from the 216 Tottenham Detachment ACF were among nearly 600 from all across North and West London who attended the two-week training camp.
This year the event was held Crowborough in Sussex between July 27 and August 9.
Obstacle courses, clay target shooting, high ropes training, first aid and paintball were among the activities available for the cadets.
The Army Cadet Force is currently looking to recruit suitable adult leaders, particularly for the central London area.
