Sonny Joyce-White plays with Arsenal Football Club at Emirates Stadium
A seven-year-old from Tottenham got to practice the beautiful game with his favourite north London football club.
Sonny Joyce-White was invited to the Emirates Stadium to play with Arsenal FC's first team as part of the 30th anniversary of its young supporter’s scheme, Junior Gunners.
He was one of 30 young members of the scheme, founded in 1983, to take part in a match against first-team players.
Sonny said: “I had a brilliant day at Arsenal. Not only did I get to meet my favourite players I was able to play football with them too.”
The match was the first of its kind at the new Arsenal pitch and saw the young fans take on Arsene Wenger’s team.
Youngsters were helped by Gunners and England star Theo Walcott who joined them midway through.
To commemorate the Junior Gunners’ 30th birthday Sonny headed out into the middle of the pitch to release one of 30 balloons into the sky.
Each balloon contained a free Junior Gunner membership for the 2013/14 season – to be claimed by the people that find them.
Afterwards, the young fans got to watch the Arsenal team train and to attend a question and answer session with Mr Walcott and his teammates Kieran Gibbs and Olivier Giroud.
The 30 children were selected at random from more than 30,000 Junior Gunners to take part in the day.
