Haringey Borough Council leader Claire Kober praises schools for best ever A level results
Haringey’s A level students have bucked the national trend and earned the borough’s best results ever.
Sixth formers from schools across the borough celebrated last Thursday after 85 per cent of them achieved A* to C grades compared to 80 per cent last year - above the national total of 77 per cent.
On Thursday, Highgate Wood, Fortismere and Hornsey schools celebrated a 100 per cent pass rate.
And out of 803 students entered for a total of 2,469 A-level or equivalent qualifications, 99 per cent achieved one or more passes at grades A to E.
Haringey Borough Council leader Councillor Claire Kober spoke of her delight and praised the students, staff, parents and carers for all their hard work.
She said: “Yet again, Haringey’s students have produced record breaking results and I’m delighted for all of them, as well as for all of the teachers, parents and carers who have offered support.
“I remain determined to ensure every young person in Haringey receives an outstanding education and has access to the best opportunities that life has to offer – these results give us a very firm foundation.”
Cllr Ann Waters, the cabinet member for children, congratulated the borough’s young people and wished them the best for the future.
She said: “Congratulations to everyone who has achieved such fantastic results.
“It was a real privilege to join some of Haringey’s young people as they collected their results last Thursday.
“I wish them all the very best for the future."
