Blaze destroys house roof in Hornsey
This was the aftermath of a house fire which ravaged an attic this afternoon.
Firefighters were called to Alexandra Road, Hornsey, at 1.08pm after a blaze broke out at the top floor of a house.
Over half of the roof was badly damaged in the fire and crews spent over an hour and a half tackling the blaze.
Two people managed to leave the house before fire crews arrived and paramedics treated one person for smoke inhalation and burns to his hands, before taking him to hospital.
Station manager Jim Hewitt said: “Crews did extensive salvage work to keep the damage to the house to a minimum.
“They were hampered because the attic was full of possessions so they did exceptionally well to put the fire out so quickly."
Four fire crews and 35 firefighters worked to control the fire, which is currently under investigation.
