Haringey Borough Council launches stop smoking campaign
Haringey Borough Council has launched a new campaign to encourage people to make their homes and their cars smoke free.
The authority is encouraging people to avoid smoking around children to avoid exposing them to a risk of illnesses – including cancer, asthma, glue ear, cot death and meningitis.
Free stop smoking packs are on offer to all residents who want to find out more and make the commitment to go smoke free.
Cllr Bernice Vanier, cabinet member for health, said: “This campaign is about getting the message out there that keeping smoke out of homes and cars makes a huge difference to people’s health and the health of those around them. It’s also much safer.
“Many families will already have this rule in place and that’s really positive but we are hoping people will be encouraged to really make a commitment and pledge to go smoke free.”
“Our information packs include useful resources and we are sending them out to people who request them – completely free of charge.”
