Police appeal to track down Jamie Marsh-Smith in connection with the murder of Zafer Eren in Southgate
Detectives are appealing to the public in a bid to track down a 22-year-old man in connection with a Southgate shooting.
Police have issued a picture of Jamie Marsh-Smith as they attempt to trace and arrest the man in connection to the murder of Zafer Eren in High Street, Southgate, five months ago.
Adding to the appeal, the Metropolitan Police are offering a significant reward of up to £30,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the death of Mr Eren.
The 34-year-old father of a month-old baby was shot dead outside his Southgate home at about 7.21pm on Thursday, April 18. Witnesses described seeing a masked gunman flee the scene in a burgundy Peugeot
Mr Eren's wife Nuriye Cetin said: "On 18 April 2013 I lost my partner and my daughter, who was only 27 days old, lost her father, our suffering will never end. And for what - what gets achieved through this mindless violence?
"I plead to anyone who has information regarding the murder of my husband Zafer Eren to contact police. Somebody knows where Jamie Marsh-Smith is, make that call and make a positive difference to our society."
Mr Marsh-Smith has been known to have links to Tottenham, Hackney, Camden and Kilburn and detectives are looking into two further shootings as part of this investigation.
The latest shooting came four days after the death of Mr Eren on April 22, 2013, in Tottenham where a victim managed to escape from the scene. However, this morning, a 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and assisting an offender. The other shooting took place on December 30, 2012, in Lower Edmonton.
Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, leading the investigation, said: "Today we need the public to help us trace and arrest Jamie Marsh-Smith. We are keen to speak to him in connection with the murder of Zafer Eren.
"We know that allegiances shift over time and now months on from Zafer's murder, people may have the confidence to talk to us. A £30,000 reward is available for information that helps us arrest and convict those responsible for Zafer's death.
"Anyone with information of the whereabouts of Jamie Marsh-Smith is asked to call the incident room on 020 7321 7228 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
"For an immediate sighting of him, please call 999."
Samuel Zeria, 20 of Hathersage Court, Islington, will appear in custody at the Old Bailey for trial on November 11, charged with the murder of Mr Eren.
