Eco-house in Lansdowne Road, Muswell Hill, built in three days by Baufritz
While most homes take months to build, this ultra-modern eco house is Muswell Hill was put together in just three days.
The home, close to Alexandra Palace, is a one-of-kind building designed to specification by a German company called Baufritz.
The “house of the future” had its individual parts put together in a factory in Munich before they were shipped to the UK and pieced together like a Lego house.
It has four storeys including a basement and features include triple-glazed windows, solar panels for heating, five-bedrooms, two living rooms, a TV room and a games room.
Most impressive of all, the house was made watertight within a couple of days and the structure of the home was completed after just three.
Ben Fulton, sales director for Baufritz, said: “The couple who own the house already lived on the street and when they bought the plot of land it already had a house on it.
“But they wanted something quite modern and something very environmentally friendly.
“They came to us with a list of specification and we went through a bunch of ideas before finally settling on the one that is being built today.”
According to Nick Blunt, the man who designed the house, the materials used in the building are non-toxic and will not impact the surrounding environment in a negative way.
He said: “This is a conservation area so we couldn’t build anything outlandish and it was very important that the house complemented other buildings on the road.
“So we tried to create something that fitted in with the rest of the street but was still very modern.
“This house is guaranteed to last at least 30 years and if the building is looked after and maintained then there is no reason why it shouldn’t last more than 100 years.”
The interior of the house is expected to be finished within the next few months and the owners are expected to move into the property by the start of next year.
