Lynne Featherstone MP welcomes emergency repairs to New River Village in Hornsey
A politician has welcomed emergency repairs on a housing estate in Hornsey, but said she will not stop campaigning until people who live there are happy.
People living in Colorado Apartments in Great Amwell Lane, New River Village appealed to Hornsey and Wood Green MP Lynne Featherstone about leaks, damp and flooding on the Hornsey estate last month.
Liberal Democrats started a petition to put pressure on social landlord Circle 33, and after a specialist investigation agreed earlier this month, the firm told the MP that emergency work has been completed.
Ms Featherstone said: “It should never have taken this long, but I am glad that Circle 33 has finally started to undertake these vital repairs.
“Thank you to all the residents who signed the petition and helped us up the pressure on Circle 33 to make repairs. Together, we have pushed them into action.
“This is not over, though. We will continue to keep an eye on the situation, and we will not rest until residents in Colorado block are happy with their living conditions.”
Circle 33 said it would seal the building to prevent further leaks and will work to dry out the building in November.
Repairs will be carried out on properties damaged by water and damp at the start of next year.
