A mental health trust has appointed a new medical director to join its leadership team.

Dr Jonathan Bindman will begin his new role as the most senior doctor at the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust, today.

He joins the trust from South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust where for the last three years he has been clinical director of the Mood Anxiety and Personality Clinical Academic Group.

Dr Bindman has also worked in an assessment and treatment team, developing a particular interest in personality disorders and in new models of working between primary and secondary care.

He said: “I am very excited to be joining the team at Barnet, Enfield and Haringey.

“It is both an exciting and challenging time for mental health and I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues to help maintain and improve the trust’s services.

“This is so that we are consistently offering high quality and safe care and treatment to our patients and service users.”

Maria Kane, the trust’s chief executive, was delighted to welcome Dr Bindman to the trust.

She said: “The post attracted a number of high calibre candidates but we felt that Dr Bindman’s experience and expertise would be best suited to help the trust to continue to deliver on its commitment to excellence.”
