Friends, family and volunteers donned Christmas hats and walking boots to raise money for a charity supporting disabled children.

More than 30 people attended the Action for Kids annual festive walk through Highgate Wood this morning.

Some of the young disabled people who use the charity’s services were also sponsored to take part in the walk.

Lucy Duxbury, events and community manager, said this has been one of the charity’s most successful years.

She said: “This morning has been really great and we are really pleased that lots of people turned up.

“Not only did today raise money and raise awareness but we really want to encourage young people with disabilities to get more confident and get more exercise.

“We really want to thank the community for all their support – this has been a great year for that.”

Ms Duxbury gave a special thanks to Sainsbury’s in Muswell Hill who helped organise the event and encouraged other groups in the community to take part.

Last year, festively-clad walkers completed the 3km route and raised £800 for the charity, based in Tottenham Lane, Hornsey.
