A domestic cleaner had the contents of her purse stolen by a man who pretended to be a window cleaner.

The man, believed to be in 40s, targeted a house in Claremont Road, Hornsey, on November 13.

He knocked on the door and told the cleaner that he had made arrangements with the homeowner to clean the windows, which did not happen.

The man asked to come in to fill his bucket and he disappeared upstairs.

When he came down a few minutes later he left saying he would come back to collect the money.

The victim discovered her purse's contents were missing shortly afterwards.

The suspected thief is described as a white male, 5ft 10ins tall, of a slim build and with mousy coloured hair curled up at the ends.

In a similar incident on the same day, another bogus caller approached an elderly woman in Crescent Road, Crouch End, at 3.30pm.

The man said he was working on the gutters and followed her into the communal hallway and up to her flat.

It is believed he poured water on her floor once inside and blamed it to the lady’s leaking gutters.

At this point, the occupant of the flat below called him down to look at the water leaking through the ceiling.

However at this point the suspect said he would speak to his colleague outside but never returned.

The man is described as a young white male with ginger hair.

Police believe both men to be bogus callers.

Anyone with any information regarding their identities should call 101.
