Five people have put behind bars for their part in trafficking two women into the UK and forcing them into prostitution.

The men were sentenced to 34 years between them with Sandor Jonas, 37, Anita Viktoria Maule, 34, both of Stanley Road in Arnos Grove, and Chika Ike Michael, 48, of Essex, all sentenced at the Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, December 20.

Victor Maule, 34, also of Stanley Road was sentenced at the same court yesterday to five and a half years in prison for conspiracy to control prostitution for gain; conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration into the UK; possessing an imitation firearm, possessing a prohibited weapon and possessing an offensive weapon.

Mr Jonas was sentenced to a total of ten years' imprisonment. Three sentences, seven years for conspiracy to traffic persons into the UK for the purpose of sexual exploitation, seven years for conspiracy to traffic persons within the UK for the purpose of sexual exploitation and three years for conspiracy to control prostitution for gain will run concurrently.

A final sentence of three years for conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration into the UK was added to the seven-year-term.

The 37-year-old was found not guilty of conspiracy to traffic from the UK for exploitation and conspiracy to rape.

Victor’s sister Anita Maule was jailed for 11 years in all, six years for for conspiracy to traffic persons into the UK for the purpose of sexual exploitation, six years for conspiracy to traffic persons within the UK for the purpose of sexual exploitation and three years for conspiracy to control prostitution for gain, all running concurrently.

A final sentence of five years for conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration into the UK will run consecutively.

She was found not guilty of conspiracy to traffic from the UK for exploitation and conspiracy to rape.

Chika Ike Michael, 48, of Clapton, Essex was sentenced to five years in jail for conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration into the UK.

He was found not guilty of conspiracy to traffic from the UK for exploitation, conspiracy to rape and six counts of rape.

Ramesh Mali, 31, of no fixed abode, was sentenced for two and half years for conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration into the UK.

The group were found guilty of their offences following trial, apart from Victor Maule who pleaded guilty to all his offences.

The women were trafficked into the UK in March 2010 with one being regularly beaten by Mr Jonas and forced to work in prostitution.

The men were arrested on February 7, 2013.
