A man who witnessed the aftermath of a shooting at a barber shop in Wood Green has spoken of his shock.

Police were called yesterday to Kenny’s Unisex Hair Salon, in Lordship Lane, at around 7.15pm after two men fired a shot at the business.

Witnesses saw two men wearing balaclavas running towards Bruce Grove before officers arrived.

Jerome Jacobs, who lives around the corner from the scene, said he was not surprised by the incident.

He said: “I was coming back from a meal and I saw police cars all over the street.

“There was police tape all over the place and someone told me it was a gang shooting.

“It is a bit shocking but I’m not surprised because this is the third thing to happen here in the past few years.”

In January 2012, a 15-year-old was stabbed to death by gang members as he was getting his hair cut at the same salon.

A passer by, who did not wish to be named, said: “I have young children and hearing about this sort of thing is always scary.

“I just try to stay clear of any trouble.”

A single shot is believed to have been fired from a handgun and the bullet was found to have damaged the door of the premises.

Three people were in the barber's at the time of the shot but none was injured.

There have been no arrests at present and enquiries continue.

Detectives from a Trident Gang Crime Command shootings team are investigating.
