It was smiles all round when a TV comedian and presenter officially opened a new charity shop which raises money for a school for disabled children.

Adam Hills, the host of Channel 4's Paralympic comedy review The Last Leg, was surrounded by students from the London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy (LCCCP) as he cut the ribbon on its new store in Muswell Hill Broadway on Monday.

After the opening, Mr Hills chatted with children, parents and staff before donating a tie and an autographed pair of trainers for sale in the shop and accompanied pupils to the centre for a guided tour.

Mr Hills said “It’s an honour to contribute to the amazing work done by the LCCCP.

“I now call on all local celebrities to come in and donate an autographed item of clothing.”

Eight-year-old Flynn Bryne was one of the students who attended the opening.

His mother Natasha said: “It was really exciting to have Adam come and meet the kids and witness all the fantastic work that takes place here. Adam’s support is invaluable.

“Today has raised the profile of our centre and school in a big way.

“This will ensure our charity can continue to provide Conductive Education for disabled children and change their lives positively."

The shop will start trading on Monday, February 17.

Mark Crank, the chief executive of LCCCP, said: “We are immensely grateful that Adam took time out from his busy schedule to come here.”

“It gives us a fantastic opportunity to generate awareness about our life-changing work.”
