Holy Trinity CE Primary School, Tottenham, celebrates first anniversary as academy
A school in Tottenham held a day-long party to celebrate its first anniversary as an academy.
Holy Trinity CE Primary School, in Somerset Road, marked the occasion with a concert, cake, a gymnastics show and storytelling showcases.
Schoolchildren and staff celebrated on Friday, February 7, a year after the school changed its name from Green Church of England School in February 2013 to become an academy.
Simon Knowles, the school’s executive headteacher, said the day was a milestone in the school’s history.
He said: “Becoming an academy was an opportunity to give the school a fresh start.
“There’s been a real transformation here and it’s a testament to the quality and hard work of the students, teachers, parents, and school governors.
“Our ambition is to continue to build on the foundation of this year and make our success secure so the children can thrive academically and socially.”
Mr Knowles, the Mayor of Haringey Councillor Sheila Peacock and academy trust chief executive Liz Wolverson planted three trees in the school’s orchard to mark the occasion.
