A flag-raising ceremony in Haringey will mark a nationwide initiative to symbolise Britain’s commitment to the Commonwealth next month.
Residents are invited to join the ceremony at the civic offices in Wood Green on March 10, where Haringey Council will join 500 other local authorities in flying the Commonwealth Flag.
Mayor of Haringey Councillor Sheila Peacock will read a special message from Her Majesty The Queen before raising the flag at Haringey Civic Centre at 10am to mark Commonwealth Day.
Cllr Peacock said: “Haringey is a shining example of the values of respect and diversity that the Commonwealth represents and we are proud to be part of this unique event.”
