Haringey schoolchildren saw a new version of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice created especially for young people.

Five secondary schools won free tickets to the show at Shakespeare’s Globe, in Bankside, central London, as part of its annual project Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank.

The partnership sees free tickets offered to London state secondary students to see a production especially designed for 11 to 16 year olds and retaining Shakespeare’s original language, to support their study of Shakespeare in school.

This year, more than 16,000 tickets have been given to students and more than 600 of them from Haringey, including 200 year 9 students from Park View School.
