A man arrested after a brawl broke out outside a church in Harringay has pleaded not guilty to a public order offence.

Police were called to Liberty Church, in Frobisher Road, on Sunday, March 2, where up to 100 people were involved in the altercation during a protest outside.

Officers were forced to draw their batons in the melee, and two people were arrested.

No action was brought against the first man but Gulain Bolombo, of Newport Avenue, Blackwall, was charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence.

The 53-year-old entered a not guilty plea when he appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court last week.

He was granted bail and will face trial at the same court on July 16.
