Man convicted of murdering Tottenham man Rodney Adams in Green Lanes, Harringay

Haringey Independent: Kristopher Guler is being sentenced today at Southwark Crown Court Kristopher Guler is being sentenced today at Southwark Crown Court

A 31-year-old has been found guilty of fatally stabbing a man in a busy Harringay street.

Kristofer Sait Guler, of no fixed abode, inflicted a serious knife wound on 44-year-old Rodney Adams in a seemingly unprovoked attack at the corner of Green Lanes and St Ann’s Road on September 11.

A second man charged with murder, Jamie Nicholson, was acquitted yesterday (Thursday), 24 hours after Guler was convicted.

Southwark Crown Court had heard how Mr Adams, a Tottenham resident, had been driven to the corner of Green Lanes where he planned to meet someone.

A short time after he arrived, CCTV captured him being confronted by Guler, who stabbed him in the buttock with a knife.

Mr Adams was driven to North Middlesex Hospital in a private cab before he was transferred to the Royal London Hospital, but he died of his injuries later that evening.

Detectives traced Guler to Birmingham, where he was arrested on suspicion of murder.

But he denied any involvement, insisting that Mr Adams had pulled a gun on another man, Jamie Nicholson, before being attacked on his way back to a waiting car.

Nicholson was also arrested and charged by police, along with a 42-year-old man, who was later released without any further action.

But the jury dismissed Guler’s lies and he was convicted of murder on Tuesday, before the jury acquitted Mr Stephenson the following day.

Guler is being sentenced today at Southwark Crown Court.

Detective Chief Inspector Tim Duffield, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "It remains unclear why Guler chose to act in the way he did, taking Rodney's life on a busy street in broad daylight.

"Hopefully this verdict sends out a clear message that the Met Police and law-abiding Londoners simply will not tolerate the carrying and use of knives within our communities".
