With rumours spreading about a possible ground share, Tottenham Hotspur says it will “look at all options” in order to move into its new stadium as quickly as possible.

Last week Spurs announced that it hoped its 56,000-seater stadium would be completed by the summer of 2017.

Since the announcement, it has been reported that club is considering a ground share at another site for the 2016/17 football season while the final stand of its new stadium is finished.

A Spurs spokesman said: "Nothing has ultimately been decided. We will look at all options that will enable us to move into our new stadium in the shortest amount of time possible.”

Wembley Stadium, in Brent, which has a capacity of 90,000 people, is believed to a frontrunner to be the north London club’s temporary home.

But doubts have been cast over the move as currently only to 22 sporting and 15 non-sporting events that use all three tiers of Wembley Stadium can take place there each year.

However, there are no restrictions on the number of additional events that only involve the use of the lower two tiers of the stadium – which has a capacity of around 50,000 people.

This means that provided Spurs only open the lower and middle tier the club would be able to host all its games at Wembley.

Brent Borough Council said it had not received any plans for Spurs to move to the site for the 2016/17 season.

A council spokesman said: “Brent Council’s planning and regeneration department is not currently aware of any contact regarding the possibility of Tottenham Hotspur FC moving to Wembley Stadium.”
