A group of after school tutors celebrated winning an award from a national safeguarding centre.

A Class Tutors, in High Road, Tottenham, successfully achieved a bronze level in quality framework with the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education (NRCSE).

More than 50 people celebrated the accolade at a special ceremony on Monday, April 14.

Ramla Farah, who runs the organisation, said: “We are so happy to have achieved bronze level because there were so many hurdles we had to go through.

“We work with children from Reception to A level from difficult backgrounds and we try to give them an extra push in their education.

“One of the real challenges for kids is to be motivated to do work so that’s what we try to do – get them motivated to work hard and be successful.”

This tuition group is made up of a small number of 19 to 25 year olds with the aim of raising children's academic achievement and has been running for almost two years.

Ertarch Hidaybettin, a quality development adviser from the NRCSE, said: “The bronze award is awarded according to the quality of the school and is the measure of its safety and safeguarding policies.”
