A man who killed a 76-year-old woman as she crossed the road on a mobility scooter has been given a community sentence.
Battal Gunes, 42, of Turners Hill, Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, was today given a four-month suspended jail sentence and ordered to do 150 hours' unpaid work for killing Marjorie Norman on October 1, 2013.
He pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving at Wood Green Crown Court on March 31.
Police were called to the scene of the crash at the junction of High Road, Tottenham and Cedar Road on October 1 at 6.18pm.
Mrs Norman had been crossing High Road when she was hit by a silver Ford Focus driven by Gunes.
She was treated at the scene by ambulance staff but died on the way to hospital.
Gunes, who stopped at the scene, will also be electronically tagged for four months, with a curfew between 6pm and 8am. He was banned from driving for 12 months, and must take a retest to get his licence back.
