One of Haringey’s biggest water and energy providers has been handed a royal award for enterprise in sustainable development.

Veolia was one of 160 companies to receive a Queen’s Award, and was recognised for its focus on manufacturing green energy.

The company has taken part in a number of community projects in Haringey, as well as providing grants for sustainable projects.

The Veolia Trust awarded a grant to restore, revamp and extend the Harmony Community Gardens at the Broadwater Farm Community Centre in Haringey - a project that has recently been awarded second prize in a major national gardening competition.

The Veolia education team in Haringey runs regular workshops for schools in the borough raging from subjects such as littering to composting. In 2013 the education team engaged with 11,860 students throughout the year.
