Two of the 43 guided walks taking place free of charge across the capital this weekend will begin in Haringey.

The Parkland Walk Railway and Reservoirs begins today at 1pm at Priory Gardens in Highgate.

The walk will follow the old railway line to Finsbury Park and then the C17th New River, designed to bring water from Amwell in Ware to New River Head in Islington, passing reservoirs and several lakes before arriving in Stoke Newington.

The second walk starts at 11am at Tottenham Hale Station, and will cross Walthamstow Marshes, Middlesex Filter Beds (now a nature reserve), Hackney Marshes, the Olympic Park, a Grade I listed tidal mill. The walk will finish at Three Mills.

Sponsored by Transport for London, the “Spring into Summer” weekend walks will be led by experienced guides, and aim to showcase the famous landmarks, parks, rivers, canals, and open spaces across the capital.
