The youngest candidate to stand at this year’s local elections in Haringey says he is “proud” to have gained a seat from the Liberal Democrats.
Adam Jogee, 22, a former Youth Parliament member, was one of three Labour candidates to take seats in the Hornsey ward as his party romped to victory at the polls.
Speaking after the result, he said: “I’m over the moon, proud, and slightly daunted by the prospect of the next four years. We worked really hard and there is no-one in Hornsey who can say they didn’t know who the Labour candidates were.
“Being a young candidate is a really positive thing. There are kids I went to school with who had never voted before who were going to the polls because I was running.
“There are issues affecting young and old people in politics and it is about having a spectrum of people who can deal with and relate to those issues. I’m looking forward to it.”
