Thirty-six bags of stolen "jumper" wire were recovered by police from a Haringey scrap yard last week thanks to Jazz, the metal-detecting dog.
Jazz, a two-year old black Labrador, is the first detection dog in the world to be trained to sniff out stolen metal.
The dog, who is on loan to the Metropolitan Police from a security company, can identify target metal scents, allowing officers to move in and make further investigations.
