A British martial arts champion visited Tottenham on Sunday to show kickboxing enthusiasts some new moves.

Members of the Tottenham Kickboxing Association were treated to a talk by the UK’s first Muay Thai World Champion, Ronnie Green, who began learning the Thai fighting style as a teenager in Manchester.

The martial art, sometimes known as “the science of eight limbs”, allows fighters to use fists, elbows, knees and feet to score points during bouts.

Mr Green told the audience that, as a teenager, he learned “respect for all people” was important, but so was self-protection and discipline.

He added: “Martial arts was the perfect balance of being able to defend myself effectively and keep my humility.”
