A Tottenham micro-dairy is one of 32 businesses to be awarded new funding aimed at supporting London’s small food businesses.

Wildes Cheese will be give a grant by Urban Food Routes, allowing it to take on an apprentice.

Owner and "urban cheese-maker" Philip Wilton, said: “This support will allow me to employ an apprentice cheese maker and allow me to spend more time meeting my customers.”

Chair of the London Food Board, Rosie Boycott, said: “We are delighted to be able to provide practical support to this crop of budding food entrepreneurs such as Wildes Cheese in Haringey.

“The funding and advice is set to help these small businesses to grow and prosper in London’s thriving food sector.

"This is an area of our economy that provides employment to hundreds of thousands of Londoners and helps maintain the capital’s reputation as a vibrant and attractive place to live, work and visit.”
