Rioting teenager faces jail for gruesome knife attack

Haringey Independent: Rioting teenager faces jail for gruesome knife attack Rioting teenager faces jail for gruesome knife attack

A teenager faces jail for a knife attack that saw an 18-year-old nearly lose a hand.

Ashley Fagan, 18, of Dawlish Road, Tottenham, attacked his victim on a busy street in Islington.

Fagan, who has previously been jailed for rioting in 2011, pleaded guilty to carrying a lock-knife at Blackfriars Crown Court yesterday.

At the time of the attack, Islington councillor Paul Convery said: “There were huge puddles of blood in the street.

“There had been a period of relative calm in the borough over the last two years and the police took out a large number of very active gang members.

“They are nearly all gone but a vacuum seems to have been created with youngsters moving in to a very active drug culture – there has been a probable upswing in gang-related violence.”

Fagan was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at the same court on July 31, but was warned a jail sentence is being considered.
