Shoppers were treated to music as buskers entertained crowds to promote high streets.

Folk and jazz musicians gave live performances along High Road in Tottenham to celebrate Independents’ Day, an event aimed at supporting local businesses.

Haringey Council worked with the Tottenham Traders Partnership to organise a treasure hunt.

Prizes included tickets to a Tottenham Hotspur home game, a meal at the Beehive pub and a voucher for Hammond’s Eye Practice.

Councillor Alan Strickland, who is responsible for regeneration and housing, said: “We’re seeing more shoppers embrace their local high street and more quality independent traders starting up across Tottenham, and we’ll continue to celebrate them.

“Residents have been clear that they want to see a High Road with even more flourishing small businesses, providing new jobs for local people and a better place to do their weekly shopping.”
