The 144 bus will now be able to use a new accessible bus stop on Muswell Hill roundabout.

The current service stops on Muswell Hill, with the very steep slope making it extremely difficult for residents with disabilities or families with buggies to get on the bus.

After a new bus stop for the W7 route was introduced on Muswell Hill roundabout in 2012, bus users and councillors have been campaigning to get the 144 service to stop there also.

TfL originally said there would not be enough space, but are now making arrangements to allow the bus to use the new stop to pick up passengers.

It is likely the 144 will start using the stop on the roundabout by the end of the year, while the existing stop on Muswell Hill will remain.

Gail Engert, councillor for Muswell Hill and transport spokesperson, said: “This is great news, I am delighted that Transport for London has listened to local residents concerns. The 144 bus is an important cross-borough link and the new stop will enable residents to safely and easily use the service.

“It will be big improvement especially for parents with buggies and people with mobility problems.”
