GCSE successes were being celebrated at Northumberland Park Community School this morning.
The proportion of students attaining A* to C grades in English and maths has risen to 57 per cent from last year's 51 cent.
The school's top students were Ali Aydemir with seven A*s and 5 As, and Nazifa Uddin, with three A*s and six As.
Ali, from Wood Green, hopes to study maths and economics at either the London School of Economics or Cambridge University. He said: "I wasn't really expecting an A in English, and I'm really happy."
Headteacher Monica Duncan said: "The year-on-year rise in our results is testimony to the commitment and hard work of students and staff who have worked tirelessly to achieve these results."
