There will be significant traffic disruption due to major work in the Wood Green area from Monday.

Two-way temporary traffic lights will be installed at various points along the High Road as new road crossings, pavements and cycle paths are put into place. The lights will be in place until March 2015.

Haringey Council says it is working closely with Transport for London to manage bus routes through the area. TfL will supply staff to help affected passengers.

The first stage of roadworks will start this week as improvements get underway outside Wood Green Library and at the junction with Alexandra Road.

Councillor Stuart McNamara, cabinet member for environment, said: “These upgrades will support a bustling Wood Green for the future, giving local traders a boost by encouraging more people to stop and shop along the High Road.

“In the short-term, we’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption to residents while we get these essential improvements completed as quickly as possible.

“In the long-term, Wood Green’s regeneration demonstrates our commitment to giving our businesses and residents the first-class public spaces they deserve.”
