Labour councillors have paid tribute to a former mayor who died following a battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Ronald Blanchard, a Labour councillor in the Harringay ward from 1978 to 2006, passed away on August 22, aged 84.
Cllr Bernice Vanier, deputy leader of the Haringey Labour Group, said: “Ron was an extremely committed councillor who served the people of his ward and Haringey to the best of his ability.
“He was ahead of his time on many green issues and fought passionately to further the green agenda. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.”
Mr Blanchard is survived by his daughters Marie, Bevan and Yavanna.
