Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has categorically denied it is up for sale following news reports this morning.
A spokesman for the club says billionaire owner Joe Lewis, whose company ENIC International Ltd bought a controlling stake in Spurs in 2001, will not be selling.
Speculation follows yesterday's announcement of delays in building a new stadium, and that the club would have to play outside Tottenham for at least one season.
A statement on the club's website said the club had appointed independent financial advisor Rothschild to advise it on financing the "complex" stadium project.
It added: "Contrary to recent press speculation, neither the club, nor its majority shareholder, are in any takeover discussions and the focus of the club is fully on delivering the new stadium project."
