The results of the Tottenham Independent’s readers poll on Spurs’ temporary stadium options show Wembley to be the overwhelming favourite among fans.

Spurs announced earlier this month they would need to move to another stadium for the 2017/2018 season while the new White Hart Lane stadium is built.

Temporary options rumoured to be on the table for the club include Wembley, a ground share with West Ham at the Olympic stadium, or a move to Milton Keynes for Stadium:MK.

All declined to comment, but the Independent understands that Spurs have not approached any of these three stadiums so far.

Among the options, Independent readers voted Wembley top, with 48 per cent saying it would be their favourite option.

However, the Football Association says the stadium can only host 37 events per year to comply with the Brent Council contract. A Spurs season would take up most of these events. Brent Council says this is a matter for the FA.

The next most popular option is staying at White Hart Lane, with 28 per cent of readers voting that Spurs should “move into a partly built stadium as previously planned” and a further seven per cent saying “just expand the Lane instead”.

In third place was the Olympic stadium. A total of 12 per cent of those who voted want to share the east London stadium with West Ham.

Unfortunately, despite encouragement from the LLDC, which owns the stadium, West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady has made it clear the club would not share its stadium with Spurs.

She said: “No one has asked us for our permission and, if they did, we would probably say no, depending on who it is – if you get my drift.

“We are the anchor tenant for the winter matches and nothing else can happen in that time without our permission and our football matches take priority over everything else.”

The least popular option would be a move to Milton Keynes to use Stadium:MK, with six per cent of voters thinking it was the best thing to do.
