A new tool for reporting anti-social behaviour will come into force today.

Community trigger, which is being introduced around the country, can be used by people who have reported three or more incidents of anti-social behaviour in six months to authorities but feel no action has been taken.

Once the complaints are listed, a review of the previous reports will be carried out and the complainant will be told what was done within 25 working days.

Haringey Council's cabinet member for communities Councillor Bernice Vanier said: “Anti-social behaviour is completely unacceptable and can make residents’ lives a misery and when we have evidence of it, we will always act swiftly to stamp it out.

“It is important not be complacent and this new tool will reinforce the robust procedures already in place, and ensure that we are working smoothly with our partners in the police and housing associations.”

Community trigger does not replace the existing police, council or registered social landlord complaints procedures, and should not be used to initially report anti-social behaviour.
