A community centre has thrown a party to celebrate new plans for 2015.

The Greek Cypriot Women’s Community Centre, in Denmark Road, hosted its annual dinner and dance last Saturday.

The occasion marked the financial survival of the centre, which lost funding 14 months ago and faced an uncertain future.

Now it hopes to continue providing range of clubs for children and adults, including martial arts, drama and dance.

Andreas Hadjisavvis, a priest, said the event had been a great success with an "excellent" turnout.

Theodosia Stylianou, who helps run the centre, said: “There can be only positive outcomes from somewhere that has had so much uncertainty and debate.

“The centre has been the heartbeat for thousands of Greek residents for the past 31 years, and with changing and challenging times, one needs to adapt and change for current needs and supply”.
