A young mother visited Downing Street to celebrate her successful career in technology.
Kai Barnes, 25, landed a job with Free:Formers, a new company that helps teach businesses about digital technology.
Ms Barnes, from Tottenham, now spends her time helping young people learn to code after being told she would “amount to nothing” by a teacher when she fell pregnant at 16.
Now teaching others, she was invited to meet David Cameron as one of three UK “digital champions”.
During the visit she led a coding workshop for more than 50 pupils from Highgate Wood School, and Winton Primary, in Islington.
She said: "When I look back at what my teacher told me all those years ago, and now look at what's happened since, it seems amazing at how much I've managed to achieve.”
She added: "It's incredible that I've gone from the Jobcentre to meeting the Prime Minister at his house in Downing Street."
