A great grandfather whose main passion in life was Tottenham Hotspur has died aged 103.
Harold Bond was born and grew up in the family shop, Bonds Newsagents, in White Hart Lane, Tottenham.
He worked as a motorcycle messenger in Fleet Street before going on to become an engineer.
After the war he and his wife, Jenny, lived around London before moving to Essex – but Mr Bond took regular trips back to Haringey to see his beloved football team play.
On his 100th birthday, Mr Bond's family took him to see Spurs play West Ham – and although the final result was a nil nil draw – he said he had a “fantastic day”.
Mr Bond died in a nursing home in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, at 2.15am on Thursday, January 8.
His son-in-law, Chris Matthews, said he had a “full and happy life”.
