People left tributes to a cyclist killed in a crash.

Flowers and messages of condolence have been left at the junction of Amhurst Park and Seven Sisters Road where a cyclist died on Tuesday morning.

Among four bouquets of flowers tied to a lamp post were two handwritten cards expressing shock and sadness.

One read: “I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to do more” the other: “I can’t believe you’re gone, miss you so much already.”

Police and emergency services were called to the junction of Bethune Road and Amhurst Park at 8am yesterday after reports of a collision between a lorry and a bicycle.

The London Ambulance Service treated a 29-year-old woman for critical injuries. She later died at the scene.

The 47 year-old lorry driver stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was later released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward as part of their investigation.

Transport for London said yesterday that an investigation will be held into the woman’s death and the Metropolitan Police confirmed that this was the first death of a cyclist involved in a road traffic collision in the capital this year.

A post mortem examination determined the cause of death as multiple injuries.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to call police on 020 8597 4874.
