A video appearing to show West Ham fans singing an anti-Semitic song has been reported to police.

Equality group Kick It Out reported the video to the British Transport Police (BTP) after being made aware of it via Twitter.

In the video a group of people can be heard singing “I’ve got a foreskin haven’t you? F***ing Jew” apparently on a train going through Stamford Hill before the Premier League fixture between Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United at White Hart Lane.

The Twitter user @RomanGeezer tweeted “On the train on the way to the game, West Ham fans break into song in Stamford Hill,a Jewish area, scum #WHUFC #THFC” along with a link to the video.

The BTP confirmed they had been contacted about the incident by Kick It Out.

A police spokesman said: “We are encouraged the public has the confidence to report incidents of football-related inappropriate and offensive behaviour to us.

“Officers ask anyone who has information or footage on this latest incident on a train, said to be in north London, or any others, to contact us so the matter can be fully investigated by detectives.

“We take these incidents very seriously, and it is clear what happened on the Paris Metro and at St Pancras the following night were not isolated events.

“Anyone who has information or video that would help us our investigation should contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040, by text, on 61016, quoting reference 420 of 22/2/15.”

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident and West Ham United have reminded supporters of their 'zero tolerance' policy towards inappropriate behaviour.

A West Ham United spokesman said: “The club emailed every supporter who had bought a ticket to Sunday's game to remind them that they were acting as ambassadors for West Ham United.

”If any individual is found to have behaved in an inappropriate way, the club's simple, zero-tolerance policy dictates that they will face the strongest possible action, including the option of a life ban from the Boleyn Ground.

“If anyone has any information on such behaviour we would urge them to report it to the club, Kick It Out or the police so it can be investigated thoroughly.”
