A married couple with six children have been presented with an award for their contribution to solving a complex gang murder case.

Rachel and Haim Bublil were awarded a certificate by the High Sheriff of Greater London at Blackfriars Crown Court on Wednesday.

The award was in recognition of their role in the conviction of several gang members following a series of shootings last year.

Hired hitman Jamie Marsh-Smith was jailed for life to serve a minimum of 38 years in July 2014 for killing Tottenham Turks' gang boss Zafer Eren in a gang turf war with the Hackney Turks.

Marsh-Smith shot his getaway driver Samuel Zerai in Markfield Park, Tottenham, days after the murder of Mr Eren, with the wounded Zerai seeking refuse at the Bublil’s home.

Badly injured and in fear for his life, Zerai made a confession to the couple about the killing of Mr Eren and another shooting, which led to a series of convictions.

Mrs Bublil said: “It was nice to be acknowledged in this way and we enjoyed meeting some of the judges in a less formal setting after the ceremony.

“The police said they had been pleased to work alongside us which was good to hear, sadly there a number of appeals on going with some of the gang members, which spoilt it slightly, but we enjoyed the day.”

Zerei was jailed for life with at least 28 years in prison at the Old Bailey in connection to Mr Eren's murder.
