A clear divide exists in Haringey in terms of the healthiness of its high streets.

West Green Road and Seven Sisters Road in the east of Haringey have been named as the fifth unhealthiest high streets in London.

Yet travel west in the borough and Muswell Hill high street is the seventh healthiest in the capital.

The division broadly mirrors the financial make up of Haringey, with western neighbourhoods such as Crouch End and Muswell Hill generally being more affluent than eastern areas like Tottenham and Wood Green.

Research from the Royal Society for Public Health assesses how businesses on the high street can impact public health and the society has drawn up league tables of the “healthiest” and “unhealthiest" across London.

The report looks at the number of chemists, gyms and doctor’s surgeries in high streets in comparison to the amount of fast food outlets, bookmakers and pay day loan lenders, and how this can impact the health of the community.
