A former Haringey councillor is running a marathon to raise money for a children’s Cerebral Palsy charity.

David Schmitz, a former Liberal Democrat councillor, paid a visit to the London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy on Wednesday in the run up to his feat.

MP for Hornsey & Wood Green Lynne Featherstone accompanied Mr Schmitz and praised the charity which welcomes young people from across the capital and home counties.

Ms Featherstone said: “The Centre is a fantastic local charity.

“They work tirelessly to help the children increase their mobility and grow up to become more independent.

“David Schmitz has my full support and admiration.”
