MP David Lammy initially said he would consider running to be Labour leader
Tottenham MP David Lammy has announced he will not be standing for the Labour leadership.
Mr Lammy had been considering standing for Labour leader after Ed Miliband stood down following the party's defeat in the General Election on Friday.
The MP, who has held the seat for 15 years, told the BBC at the weekend that he would “have a go” if fellow party members asked him to put himself forward.
His office today said he would not be seeking to lead the party, but confirmed he still hopes to be Labour’s candidate for the Mayor of London in 2016.
